Holistic Approach
The perfect storm of “hustle” lifestyle burn out, menopause hormone changes combined with turning 50. This perfect storm alerted me to massive changes in my body. It felt as if my body didn’t understand what to do with food and it’s nutrients any longer. Added to this instant inflammation and weight gain was an inability to handle acute stress situations like loud noises, watching my kids hockey games, confrontations and loud family banter. This points to a body running on empty constantly in a fight or flight mode with a depleted tank . A holistic approach to wellness has to look at all angles offering support towards a well being. Along with nutrition, mineral supplementation, movement and proper sleep, I was desperately needing to support my parasympathetic system. My meditation was adding in art, journaling & mineral balancing.
My most creative time is early in the mornings. It’s my time to create with pens, vintage papers, linocuts, stamps & capturing the results for my instagram account. Instagram has been like my virtual art gallery over the past few years. I have curated a collection of IG artist accounts in my feed that inspire and spark joy for me.
It is amazing how adding just a few minutes of creativity in a day can spark relaxation and calming energy to carry on into the rest of my day. My favourite practice is packing up my journals, pens & stamps and heading to a coffee shop in the artistic small towns. Do you have a favourite spot? I would love to see it!
